Émile Berchmans was born in 1867 in Liège and died in 1947 in Brussels. He was a painter from Liège and one of the most significant poster-designers from the fin de siècle. He was educated in the studio of his father (Émile-Éduard Berchmans) and at the académie des beaux-arts of Liège. Along with Armand Rassenfosse and Auguste Donnay, he becaume one of the most prominent poster-designers of the printing-studio of Auguste Bénard.
